What is an STI?

Sexually Transmitted and Blood-borne Infections (STIs), also known as STDs, are infections mainly transmitted through sexual contact or contact with contaminated blood. They encompass a wide range of diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi. Understanding what STIs are, how they are transmitted, and how to protect oneself is essential for maintaining good sexual and general health.

Is it for you?

You can get tested for STIs when:

Did you know?

People with an STI don't always have symptoms.

Screening is a confidential, easy and quick way to find out if you have a sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection (STI).

It's serious!

Learn more about STIs

Only an STI screening test can confirm if a person is infected. Screening allows people who have contracted an STI to receive appropriate treatment and avoid complications from an untreated infection.
